700 mm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>anthropogenic deposition of nitrogen 6 -11 kg\/ha\/year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>experiment consists of 5 sites meeting following criteria<ul><li>&nbsp;andesite bedrock<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>&nbsp;south \u2013 west aspect<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>&nbsp;tree canopy dominated by oak (<em>Quercus petraea<\/em> agg.)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>&nbsp;stand age above 70 years<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>&nbsp;vegetation classified as <em>Sorbo torminalis \u2013 Quercetum <\/em>Svoboda ex Bla\u017ekov\u00e1 1962<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div design<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>  combination of 3 treatments representing historical     management and recent environmental changes<ul><li><strong>canopy reduction <\/strong>\u2013 mainly the subcanopy trees and shrub, particularly those with high shade-casting ability like <em>Carpinus betulus<\/em><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>litter raking <\/strong>\u2013 realised each year, approximately at the beginning of the November<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>nitrogen fertilisation <\/strong>\u2013 applied twice a year in an early spring and after litter raking in amount of 50 kg\/ha\/year\n<ul>\n<li> treatments are applied at the subplot level (20x20m), creating specific spatial pattern to reach unique combinations (including one subplot without any intervention for control)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-column-24e09143\" class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-column\">\n<figure
